Homecoming 2009

The rain & windy weather did not dampen the spirits of Alpha Rho alumni, undergraduate & associate members and guests at the 2009 Homecoming Weekend in Morgantown, West Virginia. Friday, October 23rd - Started off with a touching memorial at the fraternity house for beloved advisor Dean Evans. JoAnn Evans, wife of Dean Evans and daughter-in-law were present along with alumni and numerous undergrads decked out in shirt and tie for the unveiling of the plaque dedicating the main room as Dean Nicholas G. Evans Hall. Brother Patick Folio, AP 147 read the emotional words from the plaque to the gathering, preceded by a moment of silence. A special thanks to Brother Jay Marano, Jr., AP 120 for escorting Mrs. Evans to the house. Following the ceremony, Mrs. Evans toured the hall conversing with the undergrads and alumni. After the ceremony, many headed off to downtown and High Street for the Homecoming parade and alumni gathering at Gibbie’s. Saturday, October 24th - Provided an extremely wet morning during tailgate preparation; however, the tent was ready to go by 9 a.m. The location of the tailgate area was at the Healthworks lot off of Chestnut Ridge Road near Mylan. All those present enjoyed great live music by Floyd Cowger, the wings from Keglers and sides along with assorted beverages. Great conversation and fun was had by alumni, undergraduates and friends alike. Many of the attendees headed off to the game around 11:30 while a few stayed behind to watch over the tailgate area. Once the Mountaineer gun went off, sounding a WVU victory over UConn, the music started back and the tailgate resumed for another hour or so. A special thanks to Brother Jordan Feathers, AP 438 for the arrangements with Healthworks and to the alumni who helped with the tailgate. Following the tailgate, alumni and undergraduate members proceeded downtown for some more conversation and reminiscing. After an early lunch on Sunday, October 25th, most alumni headed off to their home destinations leaving another great time with Alpha Rho alumni, undergraduate & associate members and friends in Morgantown. A special thank you goes to Brothers Erik Baldwin, AP 412, Jordan Feathers, AP 438 and Jason Hyett, AP 466 for a job well done on the organization of Homecoming 2009.
